Oxford Island

We went to Oxford Island today for a walk. It was pretty cold but we had a great time spotting all the birds and squirrels! Ended up taking quite a few photos and here are a couple Also on New Years Eve Gary was outside and heard alot of birds. He called me and there was at least 100 birds on our trees out the back. They were birds we hadn't seen before so Gary got the camera and I phoned mum and dad. Dad came straight over with his camera and long lens. They were taking photos and Dad thought they were lapwings. I looked out the front and there was two people on the other side of the road with binoculars and a telescope. Gary went over to them and said they could come up round the back. They explained that the birds were wax wings and they came from Scandinavia, they hadn't been over for a couple of years and never in such a big flock. They come for the berries when its too cold where they normally live. We got a few photos, heres one:

The wax wings didn't came back on New Years Day but have been eating the berries every day since, that many berries left now!

Well, I didn't get any scrapping done over the holidays and I'm back to work tommorrow! It was really great having the two weeks off especially as Sophs was off for two weeks and Gary was off for most of it.

Blogging again after 3 weeks!

Well at last I'm blogging again! I haven't been well, chest infection and colds and things and I haven't been doing any crafting. I've just got onto the computer in the last couple of days and today was my first time out in a week! Feeling a good bit better now and thought I would brave the cold outside and take photos of the two recent layouts I have done. This one was done at the Kit Club in Stephanie's (Forgetmenot Papercrafts) and it was the first time I used an overlay. They were really lovely autumny pages.

This layout was made with another overlay, Prima Paintables, but instead of painting it, I used my Copics, tasted them on a spare piece of acetate first to make sure they dried. I only used three colours of Copics although it looks like more because of the Basic Grey Euphoria paper I put behind it. I liked the way you could can see through the copics to the page below. These photos were taken at Oxford Island and I had to put the journalling on the back.
I'm going to Stephanie's on Monday so hopefully will have more layouts to show next week x

More Cards than scrapping

I'm just after writing a post and losing it! Well I seem to be making more cards than layouts recently, birthdays and Christmas of course! It's our nieces first birthday tomorrow and I made two cards, one from Gary and me and one from Sophs. They are made from some new stamps I got this week. The mouse one was fun to stamp I especially love the patchwork letters and might even buy the whole alphabet as I only got the B and the W in the kit from Dimension Fourth. The flower stamps are from Forgetmenot Papercrafts in Belfast. I will definately have to get back to scrapping, I did a layout on Monday night at Stephanie's but haven't quite finished it yet.

Birthday Card

Mum in laws birthday tomorrow. I've got one card made and still got Sophs card to do. I used papermania stamp and letter stamps on it with basic grey euphoria paper and copic pens to colour. Really enjoying using copic pens and I'm sure I need some more colours!

Again!

Two posts inthe same day. Meant to put a scrapbook page in the first post and forgot and decided I would post again. I love the big grungeboard letters from Tim Holtz and made a layout with them. The only place I could get a good photo was outside putting the layout on the concrete (back garden!) and I have to load adobe photoshop onto computer again so I can crop the photos better.

First time for everything!

I've had this blog for ages and haven't done anything but change colours on it, thought I'd better get started!

I was at a class on Wednesday night, card making and it was really good. Learnt how to use copic pens and the cuttlebug embossing folders. It was at Millhouse crafts. I really enjoyed using the copics. I had bought a cowboy stamp from Mandy and thought I would try it out hoping I could do the shading without Mandy! Here it is

I love anything to do with horses and Sophs has been horse riding for 2 years now, here she is yesterday riding Joey her favourite pony. He's wearing a head collar instead of a bridle coz he's got cancer in his mouth. Sophs loves riding him and even though she has ridden bigger ponies she always goes back to Joey.
